

To remove theme formatting from just a portion of your document, select the portion you want to change and change any formatting you like, such as font style, font size, color, etc. To return to the default theme, choose the Office theme. To change themes, simply pick a different theme from the Themes menu. Select the set of effects that you want to use. On the Page Layout tab in Excel or the Design tab in Word, click Effects. While you cannot create your own set of theme effects, you can choose a set of effects that work for your document. Theme effects include shadows, reflections, lines, fills, and more. In the Name box, enter a name, and click Save. In the Create New Theme Fonts box, under the Heading font and Body font boxes, pick the fonts you want. To create your own set of fonts, click Customize Fonts. This feature has started rolling out to Insider Beta Channel users running Version 2012 (Build 13518.10000) or later. Never want to see a dark canvas? Go to File > Options > General > Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office and select the Disable dark checkbox to always keep the page color white in Office Black Theme. To confirm the default view (white canvas), use the Switch Modes button to flip the page color to white. The dark canvas does not convey how your document will print, or the default view your collaborators will see when they open it. Indeed, reds, blues, yellows, and other colors will be shifted slightly to mute the overall effect of the color palette and look more visually pleasing with the new dark background.

Colors within your document will also be shifted to accommodate the new color contrast. With Dark mode, you’ll notice that the previously white page color is now a dark grey/black. Once the black theme is set, you can toggle between the black and white page background colors by selecting View > Switch Modes from the ribbon. To turn on Dark mode in the Word canvas, select File > Account > Office Theme > Black.Ģ. Now, Dark Mode in Word offers a dark canvas as well!
